High school teams thinking about Plan B
With the air quality poor on Monday and the potential for it not getting better anytime soon, local football teams are thinking Plan B.
Coeur d'Alene High announced Monday it is moving Friday's season opener vs. Skyline of Idaho Falls to the Kibbie Dome in Moscow, with a start time of 5:30 p.m. The game was scheduled to be played at Coeur d'Alene High.
Lake City has reserved the 3 p.m. time slot at the Kibbie Dome on Friday, with the intent of moving its season opener vs. Rocky Mountain of Meridian there. That game was scheduled for Lake City. Lake City was awaiting word from Rocky Mountain before officially moving the game to Moscow, Lake City athletic director Jim Winger said.
Lakeland AD Trent Derrick said he will speak with Lewiston officials today to discuss options for Friday, in which Lewiston's football team is scheduled to travel to Lakeland.
Monday's boys and girls soccer games pitting Timberlake at St. Maries were postponed, also due to poor air quality.
Already, some practices for outdoor sports teams have been moved indoors. Lake City canceled a football scrimmage scheduled for last Friday night.
