George Lee Turpin, 64

George Lee Turpin, Sr. passed away peacefully while residing at Life Care Center in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, on Aug. 13, 2015. George was 64 years old. George was a Coeur d'Alene native born Nov. 1, 1950, to Harold Lee Turpin (deceased) and Alta Rae (VonWald) Turpin (deceased). George is survived by siblings; Kathy Harris, Leonard Turpin, Tina Turpin and Donald Turpin. Survivors also include his children; Alyse (Marshall) Staley and husband, Dustin Staley and George's son, George Turpin, Jr. Also his grandson, Justice Juliano.

George loved North Idaho. He greatly enjoyed local history and enjoyed the beautiful surroundings by fishing, camping, and taking walks to chat with his neighbors before a devastating stroke in 2011. Prior to his stroke, George was a security officer for the Watson Agency for many years and prior to that in the late '70s to early '80s he worked at the Bunker Hill Mine in the zinc plant. George was also a graduate of the automotive technician program at North Idaho College.

George was a great listener, patient, very laid back and had a good sense of humor. He absolutely loved music and more specifically enjoyed blues, classic rock, and music further back into the 1950s. He had an expansive vinyl record collection that spanned into the thousands! He enjoyed spending time outside and when younger enjoyed riding his motorcycle all around North Idaho. He also enjoyed animals and always had pets. He was a wonderful Grandpa and loved to spend time with his grandson, Justice.

George will be greatly missed and forever loved. His family wishes to thank the staff at the Life Care Center for their kindness and care over the years. A service is not planned but the family would appreciate any thoughts or comments to be left at his obituary post on the Yates Funeral Home website.
