| August 22, 2015 9:00 PM

Peter Lane Morrisroe, 75, of La Quinta, Calif., passed away Aug. 17, 2015, in Rancho Mirage, Calif. He was born Dec. 2, 1939, to John Morrisroe and Barbara Morrisroe in Brooklyn, N.Y. Early in his life Peter's parents moved to San Marino, Calif., and in 1957 he graduated from San Marino High School.

After high school, he attended Menlo College in the Bay Area. After Menlo, he returned to Los Angeles and went to work for Pilot Chemical in sales on the West Coast and he also enrolled at USC, majoring in Business Administration. He graduated from USC in 1965 with a degree in Business Administration and from that day forward he was a passionate USC alumni.

He continued his work at Pilot concentrating in sales, accounting and finance. In 1980 he became General Manager of the Western Division of Pilot. That position had responsibility for the California and Texas operations. In 1988, Pete became Chairman and CEO of Pilot and held that position until he retired in 1999.

On the personal side, Peter married Patricia McTaggert in 1966 and moved back to San Marino, Calif., where they raised their three boys - James, Patrick and Casey - until 1985. In looking to find a more relaxed lifestyle outside Los Angeles, Peter moved the family to Hayden Lake, Idaho. In 1995 after their youngest son graduated from high school, Peter and Patricia moved to La Quinta, Calif., opting for the warm sunshine of the desert. This climate was more compatible with his favorite sport of golf.

After Patricia passed away in 1999, Peter married Maria Morrisroe in July of 2007. Peter and Maria raised Maria's children in La Quinta, Calif. until his death. Besides his family and friends, golf, auto racing and USC football were his lifelong passions.

Peter is survived by his wife, Maria Morrisroe; sons, James Morrisroe, Patrick Morrisroe, Casey Morrisroe; stepdaughters, Esabel Hernandez, Angelica Hernandez, Vanessa Vicuna, and Ruby Vicuna; and stepson Giovanni Vicuna; brother, Paul Morrisroe; sisters, Nancy Lynn and Anne Shenkin; and 10 grandchildren and 11 step-grandchildren.

A visitation will held from 6-10 p.m. Monday, Aug. 24, 2015, in the Coachella Chapel at Forest Lawn Coachella. Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 25, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in La Quinta. Interment will follow immediately after the funeral service at Coachella Valley Cemetery in Coachella, Calif.
