Prep sports season

slated to kick off today

Today's girls soccer game pitting Post Falls at Lakeland, part of a light schedule on the opening day of the high school sports season, has been postponed due to poor air quality from neighboring wildfires.

Other soccer games scheduled for today: Sandpoint at Coeur d'Alene boys, and Lakeland at Post Falls boys, both at noon; and Coeur d'Alene at Sandpoint girls at noon, and Coeur d'Alene Charter at Bonners Ferry girls at 1 p.m.

The high school football season is scheduled to open Friday.

The Press' annual fall sports preview, highlighting local high school and North Idaho College teams, is scheduled for insertion in Thursday's paper.
