VETS: Panhandlers, they're not
It always amazes me how companies and corporate entities can advertise and claim they support our troops or our veterans (and these companies know who I am talking about). This is politically correct and good advertising for these companies. But when it comes to actually supporting the returning troops, I wonder in what fashion they do this.
When asked to set up a table outside their business so a veterans group could sell raffle tickets, with excellent prizes, to earn a little money to support a veteran organization, they refuse and call it solicitation (sounding almost like a slang word called panhandling). I personally call this being a hypocrite. It’s hard to believe that they would put this activity in the same class as SOLICITING.
There are veterans groups trying hard to support veterans and returning veterans. So I would hope that some of the area businesses would rethink their position on this.
