ELDERLY: Abuse a huge problem

You are wise to write about seniors in your editorial. Elder abuse is so rampant.

Two neighborhood homes not far from the Spokane Social Security office were signed over to a malicious neighbor gal who gained power of attorney after being so “helpful” to the aging man next door. She created a quit claim deed and sold them both for $18,300! Only after adult protective services got involved did a guardian get appointed who went to court and got them back. Our awful government stood up for the weak and infirm that day! But likely too bad, so sad for the bargain basement buyers.

Ignoring our senior parents, even if they’re a bit ornery, can have disastrous consequences.
