Douglas A. Howell, 75

Douglas Howell age 75, passed away April 21, 2015 in Coeur d'Alene. Doug was born June 16, 1939 in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. He graduated from High School in New Port, Washington. Following his graduation Doug joined the U.S. Navy and served in Vietnam and went on to spend 21 years in the Navy. Doug married his wife Marie in 1958 and had 57 wonderful years of marriage and had two children.

Once Doug retired from the Navy he went to work for the Idaho Department of Land for 23 years and became a wear house manager. In 2001 Doug officially retired and began to enjoy his retirement with his family. Doug loved to travel to visit family and explore new places. He also enjoyed fishing and hunting and spent a lot of time on the golf course. Doug also had a special interest in reading and history. Specifically he enjoyed WW II and North Idaho history. Doug always enjoyed going out for dinner with his wife Marie and trying different restaurants. Doug was a huge Green Bay Packer fan as well as New York Yankee and Notre Dame fan.

Doug loved spending time with family, extended family and friends. He enjoyed spending time with his grand and great grand children and loved having them around. Doug is survived by his loving wife, Marie, son Michael and daughter Dawn (Bates). Doug is also survived by 6 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Doug was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one daughter.

A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday April 29, 2015 11:00am at Yates Funeral Home, Hayden Chapel, 373 E. Hayden Ave, Hayden, ID. A graveside service will follow at Coeur d'Alene Memorial Gardens. Yates Funeral Home has been entrusted with the care of final arrangements.
