Amie Summer LaVoie-Moore, 38
Amie would like to let you know that her work here is done. She passed in Albuquerque, N.M., on April 8, 2015, where she lived with her loving and caring husband, Bobby Moore.
Amie was born on a beautiful spring day, May 26, 1976, to Sue (Fullwiler) Myers and Ted LaVoie. She grew up in Coeur d'Alene, and graduated from Gonzaga Preparatory High School in 1994. She later studied art while attending North Idaho College and the University of Idaho.
Amie lived her life as an adventurist and made hundreds upon hundreds of friends along the way, all of whom she kept and loved. She was a free spirit, an artist, a gardener, a fantastic cook and a dependable friend. She loved her "furry babies" with two dogs and two cats as part of her family.
Her adventurist side - Amie jumped out of a perfectly good airplane, twice! She rafted the Lochsa River, floated over New Mexico in a hot air balloon, swam with dolphins, canoed the Rio Grande, went hang gliding and did plenty of "glamping" from Virginia to New Mexico. Amie lived in Hawaii, on the beach in Virginia, and most currently was remodeling a "fixer" in New Mexico along with her husband, Bobby. Amie had a huge heart full of compassion for friends, strangers and animals. She made sure to do things you can't always get to twice in a lifetime.
Amie's own words: "I like to dress up 'fancy' and lounge in comfy pajamas. I think burping loudly and spitting is disgusting, and I hate folding laundry. I think eyebrows and nails should be totally groomed, - especially toenails. Don't like feet. Love chocolate peanut butter ice cream ... going to the beach and buying new shoes!!! I have dear friends both old and new, near and far - I am grateful for all of you!"
Amie was preceded in death by her father, Ted LaVoie, in 1981; and her grandparents: John and Dolores Fullwiler, and Don and Donna Lou LaVoie. She is survived by her parents, Sue and Jim Myers of Coeur d'Alene; brother Chris LaVoie of Tabuk, Saudi Arabia; and sister Jaimee Myers of The Woodlands, Texas; her best friend, Angelina Seibert of Coeur d'Alene; and her champion and compassionate, loving husband, Petty Officer First Class Robert D. Moore, U.S. Navy in Albuquerque.
We held a celebration of Amie's life in Albuquerque on April 13, 2015. Another will be held in Coeur d'Alene in early July on the Coeur d'Alene River, when her brother, Chris, is back in the country.
If you are planting a garden this spring, please consider planting something in Amie's honor. Watch it grow, nurture it, and show compassion to those you may know suffering with depression and anxiety. Help them to get the help they need. Anyone who knew Amie knows that she was always the "happiest spark in the room!" Sometimes the seemingly happiest person in the room just may be the one suffering the most.
If you would like to make a donation in Amie's name, please consider the suicide prevention action network of Idaho (SPAN). Their mission is to reduce suicides and provide support to survivors. The email is www.spanidaho.org.
