Dec. 27, 1942 - March 19, 2015

Richard Lane Turbin passed away surrounded by family on March 19, 2015, after a short illness.

Richard and his twin brother Dave were born Dec. 27, 1942, to Ray and Mary Turbin in Merrill, Wis. The family moved from Merrill to Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, in 1950, where he then attended school in the Coeur d'Alene School District.

He joined the Army National Guard, serving from June 1961 to September 1972. He then joined the Washington Air National Guard in September 1974 and retired from the service in February 1986.

Concurrently he worked at Eastern Washington University from 1973 until his retirement in 1996.

During his life he lived in various locations in North Idaho and Spokane, Wash., until permanently settling in Cheney, Wash.

He enjoyed using his CB radio, his handle being "Curly." He enjoyed karaoke and most days you would find him at Willow Springs Station restaurant in Cheney. But his greatest love was for his kids - Allan, Coastal, and Corrine - and his grandkids.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Mary Turbin; brothers Darrel Evans and Dave Turbin; his son, Allen Turbin; and his daughter, Corrine Clark. He is survived by his sister, Ellen Barbre; brother Bill Turbin; daughter Coastal Alaska; and grandchildren: Jessica, Cassie, Dylan, Amber, Nathaniel, Vernon, Melissa, Billy, Brandon, Levi, and Crystal; and many nieces and nephews

The services will be held at 3 p.m. sharp (must arrive by 2:45 p.m. for an escort into the cemetery) on Friday, April 17, at the Washington State Veterans Cemetery.
