PASCO, Wash. - Former Coeur d'Alene standout Braden Ridgewell beat two defenders and scored on a kick high over the goalkeeper and into the net on Saturday, as the North Idaho Cardinals shut out the Columbia Basin Hawks 3-0 on Saturday in Northwest Athletic Conference play at Eisenwinter Field.

Ridgewell's goal was set up by forward Adam Talley, who received 15 yards into the attacking half, dribbled past three defenders, then pushed the ball to Braden who ran forward at an angle from right to left right before his goal.

"It was an impressive run with the ball," NIC coach Ken Thompson said. "It was a nice goal."

Talley tacked on an insurance goal six minutes before halftime, converting on a penalty kick on a ball that glanced off the crossbar. Hamidou Kante of the Cardinals (8-0-1, 6-0-1) drew a penalty after a Columbia Basin player ran him over with a late shove, Thompson said.

In the 41st minute, Columbia Basin (2-2-5, 2-1-4) had one of its players thrown out for arguing with the official, leaving the Hawks with 10 players on the field. Talley scored his second goal with eight minutes left in the game.
