PREP VOLLEYBALL ROUNDUP: Lake City pushes Lewiston to 5 in loss

COEUR d'ALENE - For the second time in eight days, the two-time defending state 5A champion Lewiston Bengals were pushed to the limit by a team from Coeur d'Alene.

But, for the second time in that span, the Bengals found a way to pull out the match, beating the Lake City Timberwolves 25-18, 22-25, 25-23, 20-25, 15-10 in 5A Inland Empire League play Tuesday night.

Last Tuesday, Lewiston knocked off Coeur d'Alene in five in Lewiston, winning 15-13 in the fifth game.

Natalie Taylor totaled 25 kills, 23 digs and four aces for Lake City (8-5, 0-3 5A IEL). Macy DuCoeur had eight kills, Brittany Gay 38 assists, Tatumn Gould 16 digs and three aces, CC Cates 27 digs Nina Carlson three blocks for the Timberwolves.

Emilee Schlader had 22 kills, 23 digs and four aces for Lewiston (18-0, 3-0). TaLaynia Hobart had 54 assists, Brett Hastings seven blocks for the Bengals.

Lake City returns to action next Tuesday at Post Falls.

COEUR d'ALENE - Missy Huddleston had 10 kills and nine digs, and Megan Ramseyer had 14 assists, five kills and six aces as the host Vikings defeated the Trojans 25-12, 25-16, 26-24 in 5A IEL play.

Delaney Schmidt had seven kills for Coeur d'Alene (11-2, 3-1 5A IEL). Ali Williams had five kills and nine assists.

On Thursday, Post Falls (7-8, 0-2) travels to Moscow, and Coeur d'Alene visits Lakeland.

Timberlake

RATHDRUM - Haley Rotchford had seven kills, five aces and five digs for the Hawks in a 25-18, 25-12, 25-19 win against the Tigers at Hawk Court.

Sierra Mayberry had seven kills, Brooklyn Bunch eight digs and Kaidan Kelsey four kills and three blocks for Lakeland (4-9), which hosts Coeur d'Alene on Thursday.

Matraca Rocheleau had 10 assists and five digs, Courtney Eaton six kills, Jacquelyn Mallet five digs and two aces for Timberlake (3-9), which travels to Priest River Thursday.

Kootenai

MULLAN - Charli Sadler had seven kills and one block for the Tigers in a 18-25, 25-20, 20-25, 25-13, 15-7 North Star League win against the Warriors at the Mullan Pavilion.

Bree Ploharz had six kills, Robbyn Trogden nine assists for Mullan (5-1, 3-0 NSL), which hosts Clark Fork on Thursday.

Kootenai (1-7, 1-1) hosts Lakeside on Thursday.

ST. MARIES - Kari Ghramm had 17 kills and two blocks for the Lumberjacks in a 25-10, 25-18, 25-19 nonleague win against the Knights.

"It was the best my girls have played all season," St. Maries coach Amy Scheer said. "They played outstanding. We had a few serving errors, but their offense looked really, really good tonight."

Kelsey Auer had 26 assists, Cassandra Scott eight digs and one ace for St. Maries (6-7), which hosts a Central Idaho League tri-match with Grangeville and Orofino on Saturday.

Talia Hendrickx had 25 digs and nine assists, Te'a Lambert 14 digs and two kills, Cailyn Dohrman three blocks and Lillian Rhea three kills for Lakeside (0-8), which travels to Kootenai on Thursday.

"We've got a very young team and they stepped up and dug the ball up tonight," Lakeside co-coach Karyn Stockdale said. "We were very pleased with how the girls played tonight."

COEUR d'ALENE - Katelyn Stegman had 10 aces and 13 assists for the host Royals in a 25-12, 25-27, 25-23, 25-21 Mountain Christian League win against the Warriors at Venture High.

Rayla Andrews had seven kills and five digs for North Idaho Christian (6-2, 4-2 MCL), which hosts House of the Lord on Thursday at Venture High.
