Coin machines damaged

| September 23, 2014 9:00 PM

POST FALLS - Two laundry coin machines were damaged at a Post Falls apartment complex last week.

The alleged burglary attempt at the Aspen Apartments, 1812 N. Spokane St., caused an estimated $700 in property damage.

The alleged crime was reported to police Friday night. The suspect entered the laundry room and pried the tops from the machines in an attempt to steal the quarters, according to police. The quarters were not stolen.

The manager of the apartments told police this was the fifth time someone has tried to steal the quarters by damaging the machines.

The laundry room is locked as long as the last tenant inside remembers to lock it. The manager told police that tenants have been good about locking the door.

Police said an attempted burglary at an apartment at the complex was reported around the same time.
