Coeur d'Alene man, two others injured in crash

OTIS ORCHARDS - Three people, including a Coeur d'Alene resident and a Spokane child, were injured in a two-car crash Saturday night 2 miles west of the Washington/Idaho border on Washington State Highway 290.

Washington State Patrol reported that Matthew Welch, 35, of Coeur d'Alene, was westbound on 290 in his 2008 Subaru Legacy shortly after 8 p.m. when he collided with an eastbound 2005 Mazda pickup driven by Carl Stewart, 50, of Spokane, who was accompanied by passenger Ethan Welch, 8, of Spokane. Both cars were totaled and all individuals were transported to Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane.

All individuals were wearing seat belts. The roadway was closed for more than an hour.
