Hulst hat trick propels Cards to win

COOS BAY, Ore. - North Idaho College sophomore forward Jaimee Hulst finished with a hat trick, two on assists by Meghan Pagano, to complete a 3-0 Northwest Athletic Conference win on Friday over Southwestern Oregon Community College.

Hulst scored her first goal in the 20th minute, taking a pass from Jasmine Smith for NIC (3-0-4, 2-0-4 NWAC).

Hulst, from Helena, Mont., made a run from the right side facing the net near the penalty box, then she took two dribbles and shot the ball inside the left post. Hulst's second goal came in the 44th minute, after she scored on an open-goal opportunity. She completed the hat trick after Pagano slid the ball to Hulst for the goal.

"We played well and are starting to make the right decisions to make easier goals," NIC coach Dan Hogan said. "Jaimee came through on her chances to finish and the team did a great job finding her."

Southwestern Oregon is 1-7-1, 0-5-1.

COOS BAY, Ore. - Adam Talley scored on a penalty kick, after a hand ball was called in the penalty box, for the go-ahead goal for the Cardinals (7-0-0, 5-0-0) with one minute left in the first half of their NWAC victory.

"We expected to win by more than a goal," NIC coach Ken Thompson said. "We expected it to be a physical game. We eventually adjusted to it but we could not adjust our tackles."

Southwestern Oregon is 3-6-0, 0-6-0.
