PREP VOLLEYBALL ROUNDUP: Vikings sweep Lake City again

COEUR d'ALENE - The Coeur d'Alene Vikings defeated the visiting Lake City Timberwolves 25-16, 25-17, 25-22 in 5A Inland Empire League play Thursday night.

No statistics were provided for Coeur d'Alene, which improved to 10-2, 2-1 5A IEL.

Brittany Gay had 10 kills for Lake City (8-4, 0-2). Natalie Taylor had nine digs and three aces, Tatumn Gould eight digs, Nina Carlson two blocks.

On Tuesday, Lake City plays host to Lewiston, and Coeur d'Alene is home vs. Post Falls.

Lakeland

SANDPOINT -Taylor Martin had nine kills, six aces and eight digs to lead the Bulldogs to a 25-15, 25-23, 25-18 sweep of the Hawks in 4A Inland Empire League play at Les Rogers Court.

Amy Shepard had seven kills to go with four aces, Darbey Scrimsher added 27 assists and 12 digs, and Lexi Riley had five kills and two blocks for Sandpoint (10-6, 2-0 4A IEL).

Kaidan Kelsey had five kills and two blocks, Kinsie Jones nine digs and two aces in defeat for the Hawks (3-9, 0-3).

"It was just inconsistent coming off of Tuesday," Lakeland coach Kylee Garitone. "We just didn't have a couple of players step up that we needed to win."

Lakeland plays host to Timberlake on Tuesday.

Timberlake

SPIRIT LAKE - Andee Wendt totaled 10 kills and four blocks as the visiting Wildcats downed the Tigers 25-18, 25-19, 25-12 in Intermountain League play.

Marley Chambers added 20 assists, and Janet Lo and Jasmine James had three aces each for Kellogg (5-5, 2-0 IML), which travels to Bonners Ferry next Tuesday.

Jacquelyn Mallet had seven kills and five digs, Matraca Rocheleau 13 assists, Savannah Burns six digs, Katie Malloy three blocks for Timberlake (3-8, 0-2), which visits Lakeland next Tuesday.

Kootenai

COEUR d'ALENE - Anna Verhaeghe put down seven kills, as the host Panthers won 25-22, 25-22, 25-18 over the Warriors in nonleague play at Holy Family Catholic School.

"The girls did really well," Coeur d'Alene Charter Tera Armstrong said. "They came out strong and stayed strong the entire match."

Jackie Callihan finished with seven assists, Stephanie Kociela had seven digs and Annie Zasadny served four aces for Coeur d'Alene Charter (4-2).

Grace McInturff finished with seven kills and three aces for Kootenai (1-6), Madison Napierala had 12 assists and Lacy Goodson had 16 digs.

The Panthers plays Saturday at the Rosalia (Wash.) tournament.

Kootenai travels to Mullan on Tuesday.

Lakeside

PLUMMER - Rachel Arthur had 15 digs, three assists and six kills for the Knights in a 25-15, 20-25, 27-25, 25-22 North Star League loss to the Wampus Cats.

Lillian Rhea had 11 kills and eight digs, Talia Hendrickx three aces and 19 assists and Te'a Lambert 14 digs and two aces for Lakeside (0-7, 0-3 NSL), which travels to St. Maries on Tuesday.

"Those four girls had an exceptionally good match tonight," Lakeside co-coach Kellee Johnson said. "The entire team played really well all-around and we were really pleased with how they played."
