COEUR d'ALENE - Havana Johnson had two second-half goals and Kelsi Grinde had two assists for the host Lake City Timberwolves in a 4-1 win against the Coeur d'Alene Vikings in a 5A Inland Empire League match under the lights at the Lake City High football field on Thursday night.

"Both teams came out ready to go," Lake City coach Matt Ruchti said. "We were lucky enough that our forwards were able to get some quality opportunities in front of the net. Coeur d'Alene is a good team and we expect that every time we play them it will be an emotional battle."

Tiegan Horton had eight saves for Lake City (5-2, 1-1 5A IEL), which hosts Post Falls on Saturday.

Sydney Quimby scored in the 61st minute for Coeur d'Alene (4-3-1, 1-1), which travels to Post Falls on Tuesday.

POST FALLS - Roberto Esquivel had two goals and Levi McElwain had 12 saves for the Trojans in a nonleague win against the Dragons of Spokane.

"Levi was definitely tested by St. George's squad," Post Falls coach John Mueller said, "and he stepped up to the plate with a dozen saves. I was able to get keeper Noah Gondo and centerback Drake Foster to play a bit of offense for a change and got them some offensive stats with an assist (Gondo) and a goal (Foster)."

Post Falls (6-0-1) plays host to Lake City on Saturday at noon.
