Coeur d'Alene Sting under-9 boys Fiorentina: The Sting beat the Moscow U9 United 3-1 in league play. Cale Allen scored twice, Treffen McCord once for the Sting.

Sting U13 girls Eindhoven: The Sting tied CWSA Washburn 1-1 last Saturday. The Sting's lone goal came on an own goal by Washburn.

On Sunday, the Sting lost 4-1 to Washburn. Geneva Bengtson scored the lone Sting goal, assisted by Jaizee Cessna.

Last Wednesday, the Sting lost 3-1 to Washington East. Jordan Roth scored the Sting's only goal.

Sting U11 girls Thorn: The Sting lost 3-0 to the SSC Shadow-Windham.

Sting U10 girls: The Sting beat the Shadow U10 Lazio 4-1 in Spokane on Saturday. Taleya Jones scored a hat trick with one assist from Brynn Johnson. Gracie Shawver also scored once.

The Sting lost 2-1 to the Shadow U10 Bellefeuille in Spokane on Saturday. Madison Symons scored the lone goal for the Sting.

The Sting beat Moscow in Moscow 2-1 on Sunday in the first game of a doubleheader. Taleya Jones and Maddy Edwards each scored once for the Sting, and Mackenzie Goings assisted on both goals.

Later that day, the Sting tied Moscow 2-2. Maddy Edwards scored once for the Sting, with an assist from Mia Carrico. Jocelyn Dennis scored one goal.

The Academy Idaho under-12 boys: The Academy opened PSPL league play last weekend with a 6-0 victory over the Spokane Spiders. Andrew Ferreira, Canyon Osborne, Alex Moate, Kameron Heston, Devin Claflin and Cody Carvajal each scored once for the Cads, and Devin Claflin, Cody Carvajal and Braden Ferreira each had assists. Caden McLean and Aidan vanMarle teamed for the shutout in goal.

The Sting AC Milan U12 girls: The Sting played twice in the Seattle area on Sept. 6 and 7, losing 3-1 to Enumclaw MRFC G02 Blue, and beating Seattle Celtic G02 Green 3-2. Claire Romero scored three goals on the weekend for the Sting, Dillen Duncan one, and Kamryn Becker had three assists.

The Sting tied Yakima CWSA Navy Jasso 2-2 in Hayden last weekend. Kamryn Becker and Sydney Harbison scored for the Sting, and Claire Romero had an assist.

Academy U14 girls: The Cads opened up PSPL league play with a 1-0 win over the FC Spokane G00 Grey-Griffiths. Janessa Ingram scored the only goal of the match on a penalty kick. Marlee Lambert earned the shutout in goal.

Sting Premier boys U11 Barcelona: The Sting defeated the Pullman Pumas 3-2 last Saturday. Brayden Bengtson scored two goals, Miles Jones one, and Connor Norris had two assists.

Academy U12 girls: The Cads beat the Spokane Breakers 3-2. Sophia Morlan, Morgan Rust and Kaylee Moate each scored once for The Academy, and Ashlynn Maag and Morgan Rust each had assists.

Sting U13 boys Liverpool: The Sting lost 3-2 to ASE Nacional-Ramirez last Saturday in Kennewick, Wash. Josh Brisendine and Jayden Freeman each scored once for the Sting.

Later that day, The Sting beat CB United 3-2 in Moses Lake. McKie Gregory scored twice for the Sting, Jackson Henkle once.

Sting U14 girls Galaxy: The Sting opened its fall season with two wins in the Puget Sound Premier League.

The Sting beat the Spokane Foxes 4-2. Chloe Teets and Izzy Lehosit each scored one goal, Erika Skindlov had one goal and one assist, Bridget Rieken scored a goal on a free kick, and Lexi Medina had an assist.

The Sting then Wenatchee Fire Black 2-0. Katie Venera and Chloe Teets each scored once, and Sydnee Rud had an assist. Emma Bartlett and Jordyn Nowoj teamed for the shutout in goal.

Sting U11 girls Spirit: The Sting lost 4-0 to the Spokane Shadow G03 Dimmler squad last Saturday.

Sting U9 boys Southampton: The Sting lost 7-1 to the Pullman Pumas.

Gunner Larson scored the lone goal for the Sting.

FOOTBALL

Team Eastern Washington/Idaho has qualified for the Football University national tournament at the sixth-, seventh- and eighth-grade levels.

The Eastern Washington/Idaho team, led by state director Rob Dean, will begin the tournament on Dec. 6 in the Seattle Region, with the goal of advancing to the national championship in Naples, Fla.

JUNIOR TACKLE

Eighth grade

Post Falls Ducks 27, Coeur d'Alene Raiders 22: The Ducks scored four times in the first half with key passes from Wyatt Shelly to Tyler Smart and Jake Rutherford. Shilo Morgan and Kordell Kinswa keyed the running game. The Raiders pulled to within five points in the fourth quarter, but a key fourth-down stop by the Ducks with 1 minute left in the game preserved the win.

Seventh grade

Coeur d'Alene Jaguars 45, Coeur d'Alene Steelers 12: Cade McKenzie and Tyler Wiltz led the Jaguars' defense with 10 tackles each, followed by Coby Pettyjohn with seven and Ben Cowin and Cade Sample with six each. Wes Sando had his fourth interception in two games and Coby Pettyjohn had his second interception for the season. Lukas Neal and Cade Sample also had one interception each. The defense also had two fumble recoveries, one by Zach Seiben, and one returned for a TD by Tyler Wiltz.

WRESTLING

Buzzsaw signups near: The Buzzsaw Wrestling Club is holding a signup night for grades 2-8 on Oct. 7 from 5 to 6:30 p.m. in the Coeur d'Alene High wrestling room.

Practices are scheduled to begin Oct. 9, and will run Monday and Thursday nights from 5 to 6:30 p.m. in the wrestling room.

Cost is $45, which includes a USA Wrestling card, T-shirt and instruction.

The club, designed as a feeder program for Coeur d'Alene High wrestling, will compete in area tournaments.

Coaches include Jeff Moffat, Coeur d'Alene High head wrestling coach; Kelly Moffat, Coeur d'Alene High assistant coach; Tony Hook, Coeur d'Alene High assistant coach and former Oregon State wrestler; as well as Coeur d'Alene High wrestlers.
