| September 17, 2014 9:00 PM

COEUR d'ALENE - Freshman Robert Powles had 10 saves for the North Idaho Cardinals in a 3-0 nonconference win against the Edmonds Community College Tritons on Tuesday at Eisenwinter Field.

Elias Herman scored in the 15th minute, Brady Ulen on a header in the 67th and Alec Johnson in the 80th minute for NIC (6-0), which travels to Southwestern Oregon of Coos Bay on Friday.

"As a team, from end to end, we had much better possession of the ball today," NIC coach Ken Thompson said. "Kyle (Bender) did a good job of connecting some passes and kept the ball a lot better than we have. If you can get a team to chase you from side to side, some things opened up."

Edmonds, of Lynnwood, Wash., is 1-4-1.
