Update: I-90 now open

| September 15, 2014 3:30 AM

Heading into the morning commute, Interstate 90 remains closed in both directions between Pleasant View Exit 2 in Post Falls and the Washington state line.

A hazardous material leak halted and diverted traffic on the interstate at the Washington Port of Entry and east into Idaho on Sunday afternoon because of hazardous material leaking from a tractor-trailor. The westbound tanker was stopped at the Port of Entry, just inside the Washington state line.

Shortly after 1 p.m., lanes were closed eastbound at milepost 296 and westbound as far as the Spokane Street exit (milepost 5).

As of  6 a.m. Monday, westbound traffic was being diverted off Interstate 90 at Exit 7. Travelers are directed to take  Highway 41 to Highway 53 into Washington, or take US 95 to Highway 53 into Washington.
