James Edward Schadewitz, 82

James Edward Schadewitz, 82, of Athol, Idaho, went to Heaven on Sept. 9, 2014.

Jim was born on Nov. 9, 1931, to Oliver and Ethyl Schadewitz in The Dalles, Ore.

In approximately 1955, Jim moved to Spokane, Wash., and later settled into the Rathdrum area where he ran a home-based wrecking yard until he retired in 1988. Everyone who knew Jim knew how much he loved old cars, trucks, wheelin', dealin', bartering, and telling jokes.

Jim married Helen Creach in 1983 and helped raise her seven boys, along with his son, Bill.

Jim was preceded in death by his son, Bill; parents Oliver and Ethyl; and three brothers Charles, Victor, and Cecil. He is survived by his loving wife, Helen; their sons Terry (Cindy) Akins of Athol, Idaho; Glenn (Colleen) Akins of Oldtown, Idaho; Ken (Sherry) Akins of Rathdrum, Idaho; Tom (Tona) Akins of Rathdrum, Idaho; Darin (Linda) Allen of Rathdrum, Idaho; Kevin (Shandi) Allen of Hayden, Idaho; and Travis (Donna) Akins of Texas; 21 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, five great-great grandchildren, one nephew and two nieces.

Viewing will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 16. Funeral at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 17, at the English Funeral Chapel in Coeur d'Alene. Graveside to follow at 12:30 p.m. at Rathdrum Pinegrove Cemetery, followed by a potluck at Jim and Helen's home in Athol.
