COEUR d'ALENE - When Shea Hannigan-Luther scored Lake City's second goal of the game in the 16th minute, the floodgates opened in a hurry.

The Timberwolves scored five goals in a nine-minute stretch on the way to beating the Lewiston Bengals 8-0 in the 5A Inland Empire League opener for both schools Thursday at the Irma Andrel Soccer Complex.

Alec Maldonado scored three goals, all coming off assists from Devon Hoffman, for Lake City (4-0), which held Lewiston without a shot on goal.
