James Elmer Sheppard, 75

James E. Sheppard, 75, went to Heaven on Sept. 3, 2014, after several years of battling cancer and heart problems.

Jim was born on Aug. 7, 1939, in Ford, Idaho, to Al and Suzanne Sheppard. He graduated from Worley High School in 1958 as valedictorian of his class.

Jim worked with his father driving logging trucks, then went into the U.S. Navy until his medical release from duty. He then drove trucks until his retirement in 1991.

After two marriages that ended in divorce, Jim rekindled his love affair with Carol in 1986. They married, and were together for 28 wonderful years.

Horses, hunting, and his Blue Heeler dogs were Jim's interests and passions.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Rick Martens. Jim is survived by his wife, Carol, sons Greg and Jake, daughter Sheli Collins, step-daughter Robin Horne, and 10 grandchildren.

The family would like to thank all of the people who cared for him throughout his illness. He is dearly loved and missed by family and friends.

There will be no funeral services, by his request.

The family will have a memorial service for him at a later date.
