Trojans tie for 7th at tourney

EVERETT, Wash. - Amanda Westlake totaled 18 kills, two blocks and three aces for the Post Falls Trojans, who finished tied for seventh in the Gold Bracket of the 16-team Mariner High Invitational on Saturday.

Post Falls (4-2) beat Bremerton 25-16, 22-25 and Yelm 25-20, 25-21 in pool play, and lost to Arlington 25-18, 27-26. In bracket play, Post Falls lost to Shorecrest 25-17, 25-19. All the Trojans' opponents were Washington teams.

"I thought we did some really good things passing the ball around today," Post Falls coach Willow Hanna said. "At times, we fought back, and I liked to see that fight in us."

Cassidy Jackson had five blocks, Jasmine Haskew eight aces, Lydea Schneider 27 assists and Andra Beck with 21 blocks for Post Falls, which hosts Moscow and Moses Lake in a tri-match on Tuesday at The Arena.

St. Maries at Lewiston Invitational

LEWISTON - Kari Ghramm had 10 kills and Kelsey Auer 26 assists for the Lumberjacks in the Lewiston Invitational at Booth Hall.

St. Maries lost three matches in pool play, falling in straight sets to Genesee, Pendleton (Ore.) 25-23, 25-19 and Sandpoint 25-14, 25-8 and were later eliminated by to two-time defending state 5A champion Lewiston 25-12, 25-13 in tournament play.

"We started out the day pretty slow, but toward the end of the day, we started playing really well," St. Maries coach Amy Scheer said. "We reached a lot of our goals for the day we had set for ourselves, but it wasn't our day for wins."

Kristin Womack had six kills, Catherine Flach five kills and Mackenzie Rose 12 digs for St. Maries (2-4), which travels to Wallace on Monday.
