T-Wolf girls end long layoff with win

COEUR d'ALENE - Camryn Wendlandt had a goal and an assist to lead the Lake City Timberwolves past the Hazen Highlanders of Renton, Wash., 4-0 at the Irma Anderl Soccer Complex on Saturday afternoon.

Havana Johnson, Maddi Ward and Natalie Wheelock also had goals for Lake City (2-0), which travels to Mead on Monday.

"We hadn't played for 11 days, but definitely took a step forward," Lake City coach Matt Ruchti said. "We're starting to get a little more healthy and we'll see where it goes from there."

POST FALLS - The host Trojans gave up two goals in the first five minutes and trailed the rest of the nonleague game vs. the Wildcats.

Alli Crain and Erica Simpson each had a goal and an assist for Post Falls (2-1). Simpson's goal early in the second half pulled the Trojans within 3-2, but Mt. Spokane scored three minutes later, then again four minutes later, and pulled away.

"Mt. Spokane is a good team; they came out and played well," Post Falls coach Sarah Stevens said. "We just came out and gave up early goals and didn't recover well from that. We're going to learn from this."

Post Falls plays host to Gonzaga Prep on Tuesday.

PULLMAN - Sophomore midfielder Harley Hendry scored the go-ahead goal in the 57th minute Saturday, leading Lakeland to a nonleague win over Pullman.

Hendry scored both goals for the Hawks (2-2), which outshot Pullman, 14-2. Hendry gave Lakeland a 1-0 lead in the 15th minute.

Lakeland plays host to Coeur d'Alene Charter on Tuesday.

POST FALLS - Diego Esquivel scored two goals to lead the Trojans past the Crusaders in a nonleague match.

"This was a game where I was able to put some of my less experienced players into the mix and I was very pleased with the result," Post Falls coach John Mueller said. "It is exciting to see how non-starters react to taking front line to a position, and my boys didn't disappoint."

Sam Enfield, Cole Sullivan and Eli Gregory also had goals for Post Falls (3-0-1), which travels to Lakeland on Saturday.

OROFINO - Johannes Padel picked up a hat trick Saturday, as the Lumberjacks beat the Maniacs in a Central Idaho League showdown.

Thomas Cook scored two goals in the first two minutes of the game for St. Maries (3-2, 2-1 CIL).

"We moved the ball around," Chris Renaldo said. "We have a young team, so it was good to work on our passing. Thomas and Johannes both did a good job."

St. Maries plays host to Northwest Christian of Colbert, Wash., on Tuesday.
