Reid M. Thompson, 71

Reid died peacefully in his sleep of a heart attack on Friday, Aug. 22, 2014. He was scheduled to have open-heart surgery on Friday Aug. 29. Reid was born on May 9, 1943, in Oxnard, Calif., to Mark and Harriett Thompson. He has two brothers, Bruce and Gary Thompson of Southern California. Reid graduated from Hueneme High School in 1961. Reid worked in California as a truck driver for Northrop, Carr Bros. Trucking and retired from G.I. Trucking after 30 years. He moved his family to Post Falls in North Idaho in 2007.

One of the biggest enjoyments he had was driving his Beautiful Blue 1939 Chevy Hot Rod. He was recognized while driving all over town in his pride and joy "Old Blue." He also loved to ride his ATV's, boating/fishing and going to garage sales on his ATV with his little girl Rachel.

Everywhere Reid went he made a new friend and was loved by many. He was a very strong, generous one-of-a-kind thoughtful man with a big heart that was always willing to help a friend in need.

Reid is survived by his wife Cathy of 45 years, daughters Vicki Thompson (44) of Post Falls, Rachel Thompson (12) and Jodi Crespi (49) of Florida, granddaughter Amanda Gundersen (26) Rosamond Calif., and great-granddaughter Chloe Gundersen (4).
