Velma E. Palmer, 85

Velma "Vel" Palmer was called home to be with the Lord on Sept. 1, 2014. She died peacefully in her sleep.

Velma was born on Oct. 15, 1928, and raised in West Seneca, N.Y. In 1946 she moved to California to start a new adventure.

Vel met Dean Palmer and they married in October 1951. Dean's varied career took her to live in Alaska and Saudi Arabia. She enjoyed the international travel that came with her time in Saudi Arabia.

Vel loved music, dance, reading, crocheting and spending time with her family. Her faith and family were the foundations of her life. Vel was giving and kind to all she met, and she will be missed by all who knew her.

Velma was preceded in death by her husband, Dean Palmer; parents Roy and Grace Ramsdell; brother Howard Ramsdell; sister June Schultz; sister-in-law Barbara Lunde; nephew Gary Lunde and niece Sandra Shew.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Jennifer Palmer of Coeur d'Alene; daughter Deborah Palmer of Hayden, Idaho; grandchildren Brandon Palmer of Austin, Texas, Michelle Palmer-Famely, Laura Lauri of Hayden, Jessica Brown of Coeur d'Alene and Ben Wilkinson of Kansas City, Mo.; nine great-grandchildren; sister Lois White of West Seneca, N.Y.; and niece Cheryl Lunde-Garcia.
