City and police officials in Coeur d'Alene released the name of the police officer who on July 9 shot and killed Arfee — a pet dog that was inside a parked vehicle outside Java on Sherman coffee house.

The officer, David Kelley, has been with the  Coeur d'Alene Police Department for seven years. He has 17 years of law enforcement experience.

No comments were made regarding disciplinary actions being considered or taken because the matter is being handled as a personnel issue.

The information was released this morning during a press conference.

Investigative materials were also released in a "Use of Force Investigation" packet.

The documents - including the results of internal and external investigations and review boards - are also being published on the city's website.
