Cleaning Q'emiln

| September 4, 2014 9:00 PM

POST FALLS - Here's your opportunity to help spruce up one of the area's most popular parks - and have some camaraderie while working.

North Idaho College's Outdoor Pursuits program will host its annual Adopt a Crag cleanup at Q'emiln Park in Post Falls on Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon. The public is encouraged to help.

Projects include trash removal, invasive weed control, trail maintenance, building a bridge, planting, creating natural barriers and improving signage.

Volunteers will receive a free lunch at noon. There will be giveaways from local recreational outfitters.

Volunteers should be dressed to get dirty and wear closed-toed shoes. Sunscreen, water, snacks and work gloves are also recommended.

The event is part of Adopt a Crag Day, a nationwide day of natural resource stewardship and volunteerism.

Adopt a Crag is organized nationally by The Access Fund, a nonprofit dedicated to conserving the climbing environment. This year, the Access Fund expects the Adopt a Crag program will conduct trail restoration projects and crag cleanups at more than 150 climbing areas around the country.
