Betty A. Straw, 80

Betty A. Straw, 80, longtime resident of Post Falls, Idaho, passed away Aug. 28, 2014, at the Coeur d'Alene Homes.

Betty was born Nov. 18, 1933, in Coeur d'Alene, to Harry Youngman and Ruth Thorne Youngman. She attended the old Bryan Elementary School on Harrison Avenue, and the old junior high and high school on Seventh Street in Coeur d'Alene (now Phippeny Park).

Betty married Alan Straw on Nov. 24, 1951, in Coeur d'Alene. They lived in Sacramento, Calif., from 1957 to 1960, in Coeur d'Alene from 1960 to 1964, then settled in Post Falls, Idaho.

Betty was a homemaker, collected porcelain dolls and Pillsbury Doughboy knickknacks, enjoyed crossword puzzles, reading, flower and vegetable gardening, antique stores, and shopping with her daughter.

Betty is survived by her sons and daughter-in-laws Robert and Erma of Post Falls, Ron and Shellie of Rathdrum; daughter Judy House of Post Falls; seven grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
