Shirley J. Feely, 92

Shirley J. Feely, 92, of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, passed away Aug. 28, 2014, peacefully at Generations Assisted Living in Rathdrum, Idaho.

Shirley was born June 15, 1922, in Sydney, Australia, to Henry and Selena Oastler. She had four sisters and four brothers. Shirley was married to Wayne Feely on Nov. 23, 1946, and raised three lovely children.

It was during WWII that she met Wayne in Australia. After the war and through correspondence, she came to the United States and married Wayne. Wayne passed away in 1992. Shirley studied and became a naturalized citizen after her arrival.

Shirley worked mainly as a homemaker, although after the children were grown, she was employed at Klotz Drug as a clerk in Coeur d'Alene. Also during this time, she and Wayne presided as Worthy Matron and Patron for Eastern Star. In her spare time, she kept busy knitting and sewing as well as watching over her many grandchildren. These activities, she passed down to her daughters Janis and Melinda, as well as to her grandchildren.

Shirley was preceded in death by her husband Wayne. She is survived by daughters Janis (Jim) Nelson of Troy, Idaho, and Melinda (Dann) Douglas of Spokane, Wash., son Barry (Jan) Feely of Hayden Lake, Idaho; grandchildren: Melinda Markowski, Carey Underwood, Jessica Markel, Breanna Ulrey, Marissa Feely, Michaela Aird, Brandon Feely, Alyssa Gersdorf, and Stacey Taylor. She also has 12 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, Sept. 6 at 1 p.m. at English Funeral Chapel in Coeur d'Alene. English Funeral Chapel is entrusted with arrangements. Please visit Shirley's online memorial at www.englishfuneralchapel.com.
