Ruth Virginia Moore
Ruth Virginia Moore was born December 14, 1931 to Joe and Sally (Hutcheson) Moore of Bolivar, MO. Ruth was the youngest of 5 children and was much younger than all her siblings so she grew up like an only child among all adults. As a result Ruth was very mature and out-going. Her whole life, she never met a stranger. In high school, Ruth was active in many sports, band, chorus and the drum and bugle corps, all of which won state awards. At one year's FFA convention, Ruth served as the Mistress of Ceremonies. In college, Ruth joined Alpha Sigma Alpha sorority and was named the "ideal pledge." She was also a member of the drama club and participated with a troupe that visited Veteran's Hospitals to entertain the patients. Ruth performed standup comedy.
Through the years, Ruth had several careers. She helped set up the first IBM computer system for Camp Pendleton and later did the same for Pacific Gas and Electric. Later, she went to school and became the first lady barber in California. Ruth worked as a barber throughout the rest of her life in many different locations. In between times, she ran a popular restaurant in Reno, worked at a casino, worked for an explosives firm, etc. Ruth bought a mobile home and between jobs, was able to travel all over the country. She loved seeing new places and meeting new people.
Ruth was all about hard work and good times. She had a phenomenal work ethic and moral compass. She spoke truth to power on many occasions which wasn't always the popular choice but made her the envy of others on the sidelines. Ruth retired to Coeur d'Alene, ID where she happily lived out her years as a volunteer helping others.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents and all her siblings. She is survived by 8 nieces and nephews and their families and many dear friends. Ruth was a dynamic person who will be remembered and missed by so many. The family extends special thanks to the Life Care Center of CDA and to Hospice of North Idaho for their loving care this past year. Eternal gratitude and a special place in heaven is wished for Patty Bullick, Ruth's "adopted" daughter who has been such a dear friend, who took care of her affairs and kept faithful vigil as her health declined. RIP dear Ruth and thanks for everything!
Ruth's request was to have no services. Yates Funeral Home has been entrusted with the care of final arrangements.
