RECALL: Shelton does good work

I support Mica Kidd Island Fire District Commissioner Chris Shelton and encourage a vote against his recall. I live in the district and I am a current Volunteer Firefighter for the district.

Those that wish to recall Commissioner Shelton point to a proposed fee schedule. Many at that time believed the district was going to charge for services, when in fact the schedule did not apply to anyone paying taxes to the district. I, myself received an email from concerned citizens which stated, “the Fire Chief wants to have fees for everything.”This simply was not true. Now, knowing the facts, I do not believe a recall is justified.

Commissioner Shelton has provided the leadership to ensure the district is staffed with professional Volunteer Firefighters and EMTs. Training, education, and equipment to do our jobs is at the forefront of Commissioner Shelton’s vision for the fire district. He is also fiscally responsible to the taxpayers of the district. I believe the taxes I pay are very low for the services provided.

Commissioner Shelton is not paid for his duties. He dedicates many hours of his own time away from his family to ensure the safety of the community he serves.

Please join me on Tuesday and vote against the recall of Commissioner Chris Shelton.
