FREEDOM: Must apply to everyone

| October 31, 2014 10:13 PM

I love free speech. Many of us do not realize it but often when we try to convince others of our point of view, the opposite happens. The current subject of gay marriage is a good example.

I attended the University of Santa Clara. A course in comparative religion was required. The course was taught by a Jesuit and each day he would pick up the Bible and read a passage. Then he would begin the history lesson about one of the many Christian religions. The next class he would elaborate on the previous class or move on to another passage and religion. He also would tell us why one Christian religion very much disliked or even hated another religion. The Bible certainly does provide opportunities for a countless variety of “ministries” of mostly men telling others what the “true” word of God is.

On another note, please think a bit before you vote next week. Our beautiful Inland Empire has been taken over by wolves in sheep clothing. They spout freedom, liberty and conservatism yet they offer us baloney and lousy baloney it is. Our schools receive less funding, we lose out on a much needed mental health facility and a huge chunk of lower income folks (including military veterans) miss out on health care because our legislators refuse to expand Medicaid. Taxing groceries is archaic. Most of the current crop are not real conservatives. They regularly vote for unconstitutional legislation costing taxpayers millions of wasted dollars. Please vote for positive change.
