VOTE: Support the Democrats

The writer of a recent letter to the editor bloviated about his imagined idea of the Idaho Democratic Platform apparently without his having actually read it. Here is the abbreviated list of the values listed in the 2014 Idaho Democratic Platform, adopted without fanfare this spring in Moscow, Idaho, shortly after the Republican convention failed to write a platform or to even elect a state chairman. Idaho Democrats value … “an economy that works for everyone … a world class system of public education ... safe communities where families thrive … democracy based on honesty … equality and respect for all Idahoans … support (of) workers and business people … support (of ) our military … being good stewards …”

Many of the current Democratic candidates helped develop this platform and to the best of their ability will use it to guide their decisions as true citizen-public servants. I know most of them personally and without qualification recommend them for your careful consideration and vote on Nov 4: Anne Nesse, State Representative, District 4; Cheryl Stansky, State Representative, District 2; Michelle Lippert, State Representative, District 3; Jerry Shriner and Bruce Noble, County Commissioners; Janet Callen, County Treasurer; Larry Blemont, County Clerk; Shirley McFaddan, County Assessor. These candidates took on the serious responsibility of running for office out of deep concern for the state of affairs of our county and state. They will indeed be wise and thoughtful stewards of your trust.
