SHELTON: No call for a recall

| October 29, 2014 9:00 PM

Much has happened since the article “Fire district leader may face recall” on Aug. 19 when a misguided campaign was launched to recall Fire Commissioner Chris Shelton, who is a volunteer and one of the best things to happen to Mica Kidd Island Fire district in the decade I have been involved.

During the last 10 years I have seen very little interest, participation or support from the community for their fire department. Then recently by way of social media a huge storm blew up when partial and false information was “shared” and a small group showed up, not to support their volunteers but to defend their pocketbooks. The allegations of additional taxes turned out to be false.

Then in the article “Recall Wording still on ballot” we learned that the prosecuting attorney found no laws were broken. More false allegations.

Chris is one of three commissioners who have all voted unanimously on every vote. How then is he singled out as not sharing the vision of the community or failing to maintain fire equipment properly? Facts do matter. All these “allegations” constitute opinions at best or slander at worst.

All I see in commissioner Shelton is a man who has done his best to support his fire district and community. From where I stand there is in fact no call for a recall at all.
