SILVER: Time for a new treasurer

| October 28, 2014 9:00 PM

An article in the Coeur d’Alene Press reported that Idaho State Treasurer, Ron Crane, “inappropriately transferred investments” which “cost taxpayers $10 million and could result in a total loss of $27 million.” Cranes response was that the auditors, who found the loss, only came to that conclusion with “the lens of hindsight.”

State Treasurer, Ron Crane, missed the point. “Hindsight” is not the issue, auditors always come in after the fact. The issue is Crane made a risky investment with taxpayers’ money and lost. He may have thought the investment would pay off, but that’s not the point either. The point is Ron Crane should not be gambling with state money and hoping for the best. He should be making safe investments.

Debra Silver is a Certified Public Account (CPA), she has financial training and a financial background. Ron Crane does not. Debra Silver won’t gamble with taxpayer money.

Vote for Debra Silver for Idaho State Treasurer.
