SHRINER: Exactly what we need
I write in support of Jerry Shriner’s campaign for Kootenai County commissioner.
Jerry was born in Spokane but raised and educated in North Idaho and he knows and has worked with residents of the county. He owned and operated three businesses, the most recent of which was sold in 2006, so he appreciates issues facing private enterprise.
Most important to me, however, is that he has extensive experience in Alaska in criminal justice and corrections, culminating in 1997 as Special Assistant to the Alaska Commissioner of Corrections. His candidacy is just in time to help address the issue of expanding and privatizing the county jail. As we watch the debacle unfold of an FBI investigation into the privatized state correctional center, I for one will be voting for a commissioner candidate who has previous experience in this subject.
