LOVE: Apply it universally
I am a Christian too, and I believe that Christ’s love touches every single person in this universe. I also believe God puts different individuals on Earth that do not follow his written word so that true Christians on Earth are challenged to help and love them — not to disrespect or condemn them.
I also have a personal belief that God created marriage between one man and one women. Somewhere in the Bible it refers to “man and religion distorts the word of the Lord.” I believe this is proven out after reading comments like Mr. Bill Johnson’s. I won’t take on Mr. Johnson’s knowledge of the Bible versus mine, but I will say in my opinion that Mr. Johnson is a typical Bible fanatic, that he can only see so deep in the Bible that he cannot know the difference from real life, and who are the real sinners versus someone who is misdirected.
What is the difference from Sharia Law than religions and people who force their beliefs on another? Perhaps Sharia Law happens immediately while forcing one to believe what one wants them to is just a slower process, but with the same goal: power. I think Mr. Johnson should reach out to these misdirected people he is referring to, minister God’s will without the attacks, disrespect for a fellow human being, and serve someone else other than himself.
Our present government makes it harder to live with the limiting of our First Amendment rights in favor of a few. The people together can overcome this by getting involved, and stop picking on people who are not the biggest problem we all face these days. The Hitching Post has a good alternate solution; just read Wednesday’s Coeur d’Alene Press editorial.
