ELECTION: Leave those signs alone

| October 24, 2014 9:00 PM

It is an election year and again campaign signs are appearing in support of candidates. Most of the signs are posted on properties with permission of the owner. We have authorized and placed some campaign signs on our rural property.

Unfortunately, some “citizens” feel it is acceptable to trespass, vandalize, deface, and/or steal signs of candidates they don’t support. I assume these “citizens” are under the assumption that if the sign is defaced, stolen, and/or torn down, other passing motorists will no longer see it, nor the name of the candidate it supports.

This might seem like a good plan, but I applaud and thank them since they have accomplished just the opposite. As people drive past the location of a former sign, they wonder what happened to it. The person who spray painted it actually caused passersby to pay more attention to its message.

Let’s all recognize that the candidates are working hard to win election and to serve the citizens they will be representing. Let’s vote for the candidates who are “playing fair in the process.”
