Josephine 'Josie' May Newell, 89

Josephine May Newell passed away surrounded by her family on October 19, 2014 in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. She was born October 13, 1925 to Walter and Martha Jones of Spirit Lake, Idaho. She married James T. Newell on August 1, 1942.

"Josie" or "Jo" as she was known by family and close friends will be best remembered for her kind and generous heart -always there to lend a helping hand to those in need. Among her many talents was her love of oil painting but her real joy was spending time with family and friends. She will be deeply missed by all.

Josephine is survived by her husband, James T. Newell of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho and sons, James (Jim) Newell of Spokane, WA and Ron Schoenwald of Bothell, WA. She is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews. Jo was preceded in death by her son Benjamin (Bennie) Schoenwald in 2007.

The family of Josephine would like to thank Kootenai Medical Center Staff for the kind and loving support they provided.

Visitation for Josephine will be on Wednesday, October 22, 2014 from 3:00-5:00 p.m. at Yates Funeral Home - Coeur d'Alene Chapel, 744 N. 4th St., Coeur d'Alene, Idaho.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, October 24, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at Greenwood Memorial Terrace, 211 N. Government Way, Spokane WA.
