Charles Timothy 'Chuck' Stiles, 58
Charles Timothy "Chuck" Stiles, 58, passed away of natural causes at his home in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, on Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2014.
Chuck was born in Yakima, Wash., on Aug. 2, 1956, to Dr. Richard and Marjorie Woods Stiles. He attended D.D. Eisenhower High School and Washington State University, pursuing an Animal Science Pre-vet degree. Most of his early life was spent in Yakima, although he had lived at his home in Coeur d'Alene since 2003.
Chuck enjoyed animals - especially his dog, Beary - sports, stamp-collecting, horse racing and music. He was the consummate gardener, blessed with a green thumb. He walked everywhere until rheumatoid arthritis and cervical disc syndrome prevented much mobility in the last year of his life.
Chuck married Michele Johnson in 1983. Together they had a son, Matthew R. Stiles, of Yakima. In addition to Matt and a granddaughter, Chuck is survived by four siblings: Robert "Bob" Stiles of Prosser, Robin (Don) Chisholm of Coeur d'Alene, Richard "Kim" (Sharon) Stiles, and Jennifer (Dale) Woodkey, all of Yakima; numerous nieces and nephews, including Alison (Nick) Granier of Coeur d'Alene, Tyler R. (Megs) Chisholm of Yakima, Wash., Hillary C. (Oliver) Stiefel of Portland, Ore., and Sarah C. (Brent) Bienenfeld of Denver, Colo.
Chuck was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents, including his beloved paternal grandmother, Edith Linse Stiles, who dedicated her final years to helping Chuck. His good friend, Barbara Ashley, passed away in January 2014.
Memorial contributions may be made to your local humane society. Services are not planned. Burial will be next to his parents at Terrace Heights Memorial Park in Yakima.
