POLICE: Pay cut isn't enough

| October 17, 2014 9:00 PM

Shame on you Chief White! When asked to comment on the change in pay for officer David Kelley, Police Chief White asked, and I quote, “Are you still beating that dead horse?”

Chief White, it was not a horse — it was a 2-year-old black Lab named Arfee. Arfee was loved. He was part of a family. You must be kidding — a $3.15 an hour pay cut.

I wonder what would have happened if there had been a child in that van and the child was killed. It was made very clear that Officer Kelley could not see into the van. I wonder if Officer Kelley would have had his hands slapped and a $4 pay cut.

What about the officers who helped cover this mess up? The public has a right to know. Chief White, I question your leadership and I don’t think I’m alone in feeling this way. I have a 15-year-old toy poodle. His name is Bubba, and he is family. Bubba would bark if anyone came near my car — that’s his job. I’m so very grateful my car was not in that parking lot July 9, or Officer Kelley might have mistaken my precious toy poodle for a pitbull.
