ACCIDENT: Wrong loss emphasized
I read the Coeur d’Alene Press daily and many times I simply take the articles “with a grain of salt.” But when I read an article that accepts the closure of a novelty holiday attraction as more important than the death of an 18-year-old boy, I have to share my opinion. As tragic as it was to read this article, I truly find a couple quotes even more tragic.
The Press used this quote from the Incredible Corn Maze in Hauser, “We are sorry to announce that all attractions…have been cancelled for the remainder of the weekend.” Really? You are sorry to have to close this attraction for “the weekend?”
What about the attractions in life that this young boy’s family and friends will miss for the rest of their weekends? Another quote The Press found on I.C.M.’s facebook page stated, “We are very sorry for any inconvenience this has caused…” I’m guessing they are talking about the inconvenience to the people who were planning on visiting the attraction this weekend who now have to find something else to do, due to the “inconvenient” closure.
The Press and I.C.M. (in this article) is making it sound that closing their business for ONE weekend is worse of an inconvenience than the “inconvenience” it is on someone who has just lost their child, family member or friend. Please Coeur d’Alene, here’s something to do…let Jeremy McSpadden’s family know you are deeply sorry for “their” loss!
