PRESS: Exposing censorship
The recent editorial entitled, “Exposing a sick society” that was published Wednesday made me wonder if the Coeur d’Alene Press has lost the true understanding of the First Amendment. This editorial went out of its way to praise diverse opinions and the need for them, but expressed an opinion that if citizens plan on writing letters encouraging people not to vaccinate, they will not be printed.
The most interesting part quoted by the editor, included this sentence. “We aren’t going to publish further letters to the editor encouraging citizens to avoid vaccines.”
Why not publish the opinions of the people of Idaho or whomever on both sides and let the readers make up their own minds?
You sound biased to me and even though you are a private newspaper and can choose what to print, both sides should be represented and that is why I am writing this letter to defend the First Amendment.
Let the people speak and make up their own minds!
