DEBATE: Bujak beat the others
The clear winner of the Coeur d’Alene governor debate was John Bujak. He is the Libertarian Party candidate who believes the voice of the people is what matters and will work with both parties. Idaho doesn’t need four years of gridlock from a Democratic governor and it was quite obvious it’s time for Butch Otter to go.
John Bujak was informed and charismatic; he was straight forward about health care, business and education. The federal control of Idaho lands needs to stop. Too much dependence on the federal government comes with more federal regulations. Government should not give special deals.
Bujak is for term limits. He gave examples of governmental “fat” that could be used for education. Our children need to be well educated. This does not mean raising tax revenue. Too much money has been spent needlessly by the Otter administration on lawsuits.
Governor Otter read from a prepared script referring to statistics and yet was wrong about Micron being the world’s largest chip maker. He roared and said nothing; he truly appears to be totally out of touch.
A. J. Balukoff is a nice man with good intentions; however, he was not prepared for the debate. He fumbled with his glasses and went blank during his opening remarks. He is passionate about education; however, a governor needs to be more than this.
The concept of “voting a straight ticket” takes away the responsibility of learning about the person who deserves your vote. In 1789, John Adams wrote of his concern over the two-party system. It’s time for a third-party candidate.
We need an Idaho governor who won’t offer special benefits. John F. Kennedy said, “Let us not seek the Republican answer or the Democratic answer but the right answer.” I believe John Bujak is the right answer.
