SIMS: Proven as a wise leader

Kathy Sims has proven herself to be a wise and diligent legislator. As a teacher my greatest concern is the quality of education in Idaho. I trust Kathy on education issues because she reads all bills, studies issues and demonstrates good judgment.

I agree with her on the need for real choice for students and parents in education. This includes charter schools, private school, magnet schools and home schooling. Unfortunately, Common Core State Standards implemented by the Idaho Department of Education and by the Federal government is destroying Idaho’s progress of education choice.

Schools must follow a “one size fits all” formula to be accredited by Idaho. Sadly the truth about CCSS is coming to light after it was adopted by the bureaucrats. Kathy Sims cares deeply about children and their development into healthy adults. Her many years of meaningful work for the Children’s Village shows her dedication to children’s issues.

I support Kathy because she supports high standards in education, such as the wildly successful ones used in Massachusetts before the advent of CCSS. I trust her to deal effectively with the controversial issue of Common Core. I trust her to support choice in education and do what is right for our children.
