ANNIVERSARY

Dick and Judy Gardner

55th Anniversary

Dick and Judy Gardner celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary on Sept. 19, 2014.

Dick was born in Manitowoc, Wis., and grew up in Sheboygan, Wis. Judy was born in Sterling, Colo., but moved to Southern California where she spent most of her life.

They have three children and 10 grandchildren. Dick retired from Pfizer Pharmaceuticals Company and Judy retired from working in the insurance industry in January 2000.

They traveled in their motorhome for three summers always looking for a place to live, always coming back to Coeur d'Alene - a place they had fallen in love with when they came through here in 1976. They moved here in December 2002.

Dick is the chairman of the trustees for BPOE Elks Lodge No. 1254 and Judy is the new president of Cancer & Community Charities (3Cs).

BIRTHS

God's gift to the family of John Gardner and Brandi Lynn Elder is Nicoya Lynn Gardner, born Sept. 3, 2014, weighing in at 6 pounds, 6 ounces and was 20 inches long. Nicoya Lynn joins her brother, Ezekiel Lorin, 7, and Lakia Lynn, 5. Maternal grandparents are Staci Lynn McCoy and Rob Elder III of Coeur d'Alene. Paternal grandparents are Allen and Nancy Gardner of Spokane.

Walter Adam Cox was born at 1:05 a.m. July 14, 2014, to Kimberly and Dustin Cox of St. George, Utah. He weighed 8 pounds, 12 ounces and was 21 inches long. His sisters are Daisy, Addie and Molly and his brother is Jed. Maternal grandparents are Chuck and Cindy Odd of Hayden. Paternal grandparents are Wade and Becky Cox of Idaho Falls. Great-grandparents are Roy Eskesen of Federal Way, Wash., Evelyn Odd of Buckley, Wash., and Dean Cox of St. George.

NEW LDS BISHOPRICS

R. Scott Pingel, of Post Falls, was recently called as the new bishop of the Post Falls First Ward of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He and his wife, Shari, have nine children and have lived in the area for 13 years. Bishop Pingel is originally from Salt Lake City, Utah, and was raised in Blackfoot where he graduated from Blackfoot High School. He served a two-year mission to the Calgary Canada Mission. He graduated from Ricks College and is self-employed.

Bishop Pingel's first counselor is Toby A. Ficklin. He and his wife, Lisa, are the parents of six children and have lived in the area for 13 years. Toby is originally from Sunnyside, Wash., and graduated from Sunnyside High School. He served a two-year mission in the Boston, Mass., Mission. He graduated from Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa, and is self-employed.

Tim Bastedo was called as Second Counselor. He and his wife, Sara, have five children and have lived in the area for eight years. Tim is originally from El Monte, Calif., and was raised in Glendora where he graduated from Glendora High School. He is a graduate of the California School of Culinary Arts in Pasadena, Calif., and also learned the plumbing trade through North Idaho College. He owns and operates his own plumbing business.

Neil Coughanour serves as the executive secretary and Dale DuRee is the ward clerk. The Post Falls First Ward meets at 1 p.m. each Sunday at the McGuire Road Chapel.

Benjamin Gaby, of Coeur d'Alene, was recently called as bishop of the Coeur d'Alene 2nd Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He and his wife, Jessica, have lived in the area for two years and are the parents of four children. Bishop Gaby is originally from Southern Idaho but was raised in Oklahoma. He graduated from Durant High School in Durant, Okla., and received his college degree from Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. He served a two-year mission to the California Los Angeles Mission and is now the health administrator for Heritage Health.

Mark Snow, of Coeur d'Alene, was called as Bishop Gaby's first counselor. Mark and his wife, Rachel, have also lived in the area for two years and have five children. Mark is originally from West Valley City, Utah, where he was raised and graduated from Cyprus High School in Magna, Utah. He received his B.A. in accounting from Brigham Young University and his DDS from the University of Washington. Mark served a two-year mission to the Tijuana, Mexico, Mission. He is a dentist at Riverstone Dental Care.

Michael Bennett, of Coeur d'Alene, will serve as second counselor. He and his wife, Brittney, have lived in the area for four years and are the parents of four children. He is originally from Bountiful, Utah, and graduated from Viewmont High School in Centerville, Utah. Michael received his degree from Brigham Young University-Idaho in Rexburg. He served a two-year mission to the Brazil, Santa Maria Mission and is now the general manager of BioLife Plasma Services.

Aaron Cengiz serves as the executive secretary and Michael Ewert is the ward clerk. The Coeur d'Alene 2nd Ward meets at 1 p.m. each Sunday at the Coeur d'Alene Stake Center at 2801 N. Fourth St. in Coeur d'Alene.
