SOUP: Hats off to charity winners
Once again I participated in the Soup Off for St. Vincent de Paul as a member of the Carlin Bay Yogatinis. We are a group of yoga practicing friends on the east side of the lake who participate in many community fundraising events. The spirited competition for the best soup award is the total of tokens and money raised by the participating groups before and during the event. The more competitive the participants are, the more money raised at the event. It is a win/win situation.
This is a well managed and fun event for a great cause. I am proud to be a part of the Yogatinis and the work they did, knitting 100 hats, making scarves and collecting toiletries over the past year to donate as well as collecting monetary donations to go to the shelter. So many great soups to taste and so much fun mingling with the other participants and people who generously gave their $10 to attend.
I want to congratulate the Eastside Fire Auxiliary on their win this year and say that I look forward to next years’s event, after all where else can you have 38 different soups for lunch and support a great cause at the same time.
