| November 22, 2014 8:00 PM

PORTLAND - Guard Braian Angola-Rodas scored a game-high 22 points, making 15 of 17 from the free-throw line, as the North Idaho College Cardinals, ranked 21st in the NJCAA poll, beat the Chemeketa Storm 96-83 on Friday in the Portland Tip-off Showcase at Portland Community College.

"Braian played really well," NIC coach Corey Symons said. "We went small in the second half and were able to get up and down the court. He's so crafty and was drawing a whistle tonight. He kind of sparked us to get back in it."

NIC trailed by 14 points with 16 minutes remaining.

"Chemeketa is a good team and came out and hit shots," Symons said. "It took us a while to get going, but I was proud of the guys to bounce back and fight back. They just kept going."

Jamaal Robateau scored 21 points on 7-of-10 shooting and Djuan Piper had 15 points for NIC (6-1), which faces Portland today at 4 p.m.

Keith Bowen Jr. scored 17 points for Chemeketa, which outrebounded NIC 32-28.
