LDS: Basis for the religion

Jesus Christ chose a holy man, a righteous man, to lead the Restoration of the fullness of His gospel. He chose Joseph Smith.

An angel from the presence of God, on his first visit with the 17-year-old Joseph, shared with him that God had a work for him to do, and that his name would “be had for good and evil among all nations, kindreds, and tongues,” and continued, “that both good and evil would be spoken of him among all people.” Jesus Christ himself told him, “fools shall have thee in derision, while the pure in heart, …the wise, and virtuous, shall seek …blessings constantly from under thy hand.”

Sadly information shared by fools, the Internet, news and preachers do not always come with a “truth” filter, and no matter how convincing these may sound, they are often simply not true. The good spoken of Joseph Smith came slowly and continues deliberately; yet the evil speaking began immediately and continues to this day by those who would so do.

Back in 1844, and at the age of 38, Joseph was murdered by a mob of 150 men with painted faces. The Prophet’s life abruptly ended. How interesting it is that the good and evil spoken of him, was just beginning.

Questions of Joseph’s character: I testify before God, angels, and men, that Joseph was good, honorable and virtuous. His private and public character was unimpeachable, and that he lived and died a prophet of the true and living God.
